BPC-157: 10 mg ($30)
Overview
BPC-157 is a short synthetic peptide whose sequence was identified within a larger protein found in gastric juice. It is one of the more heavily studied peptides in preclinical tissue-repair literature and one of the least studied in controlled human trials. It is also one of the two peptides in the WOLVERINE: 10 mg/10 mg blend.
In plain terms
The stomach lining sits in an unusually harsh environment — strongly acidic, constantly abraded — yet it maintains and repairs itself continuously. Researchers investigating why isolated a protein present in gastric juice, and within it identified a 15-amino-acid stretch that appeared to account for much of the protective activity. That fragment, synthesized on its own, is BPC-157.
What distinguishes it in the laboratory literature is that no single receptor has been definitively established as its target. Instead, the observed effects in animal and cell-culture models appear to run through several pathways at once — particularly those governing new blood vessel formation and nitric oxide signaling. This makes it scientifically interesting and also scientifically unresolved: a compound with a substantial preclinical literature and no settled mechanistic account, which is an unusual combination.
Technical description
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a synthetic pentadecapeptide corresponding to residues 14–28 of human gastric juice protein BPC. It is notably stable in gastric acid, unusual for an unmodified peptide of this length.
No high-affinity cognate receptor has been conclusively identified. Reported activity in preclinical models has been attributed to modulation of the VEGFR2–Akt–eNOS signaling axis, upregulation of growth hormone receptor expression in fibroblasts, interaction with nitric oxide synthase pathways, and effects on FAK–paxillin signaling. The great majority of published data derives from rodent models and in vitro systems; controlled human clinical trial data is very limited.

Regulatory status
BPC-157 is not an FDA-approved drug and is not a lawful dietary supplement ingredient. In 2023 the FDA placed BPC-157 in Category 2 of its bulk drug substances review — substances identified as raising significant safety risks for use in compounding — citing insufficient safety data. It has also been prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency. Material supplied for laboratory research is not manufactured, tested, or released under pharmaceutical standards.
